For a couple of years now, I have been a member of Refresh Edinburgh a meetup of sorts, that encompasses those working on the web in and around Edinburgh. Every first Wednesday of the month, we meet, eat and chat, and Refresh has become an ideal opportunity to regularly catch up with a few people I've come to know through web design and development.
This year, Refresh have been running talk events every few months, and after enjoying one of the first sets of talks, and while feeling particularly inspired by email marketing, I offered to do a talk on said subject, in an attempt to turn a few heads towards email marketing and what it's all about.
Armed with a wealth of knowledge picked up from various experiences, blogs, and campaigns I've run in the past, I put together a talk titled "Email Marketing. What, Where and When?". Presented at the November talks event (the final talks of the year) I stood, and waffled for 45 minutes on email marketing. I covered an overview of email, where we are right now with marketing, what people are doing to cope with limitations, where we're innovating right through to the potential future of email. As my first talk, I'm pretty happy with how it went, and although it wasn't recorded on video, we did endeavour to record the audio. So with the audio, and synced slides you can now watch the presentation from the comfort of your own chair.
You can view the video and associated links, references and download the slides here.
