Sergey Brin, Larry Page and MC Hammer – which one is the odd one out?
Wait Stop – Hammer time, if you said MC Hammer, then you're right, because apparently MC Hammer, the musical genius behind such hits as U Can't Touch This' and 'Pray' has his own designs on search and has announced the creation of WireDoo, a new 'deep search engine' at the Web 2.0 summit in San Francisco.
I first heard about this yesterday in the QueryClick office and I didn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes (on YouTube) and found this indisputable evidence: http://www.youtube.com/watchv=VC5A_o5Rs8A&feature=player_detailpage
So, it's clear that MC Hammer wants to make search better, because this seems to be the key point to get across at the start of the presentation.
So how is MC Hammer going to revolutionise the world of search with his new search engine? He explained that WireDoo would differ from other search engines by providing what he calls 'deep search' or 'relationship search'. WireDoo will do more that 'keyword matching' but will also look at relationships.
To explain this, MC Hammer provided the audience with an example of the types of content and relationships he was talking about by looking at the keyword 'Car'
Prices
Specification
Safety ratings
Insurance
And another demonstration about the types of content that could be presented in relation to the keyword 'Homes' e.g
Community information
Schools information
Financing
Location
Insurance
Apparently the design of WireDoo will be a key factor for the creators and users, but they are still in the early stages of creating and designing the engine, which is good to hear.
So how did MC Hammer get into search?
“Young up-starts and start ups, some strategic friends of his in a brainstorming session.”
Apparently MC Hammer, a silicon valley native, has been involved in creating web projects for some time, and I for one, will be very interested to see what WireDoo will be able to offer users.
What do you think of WireDoo? Do you think it will be the next big thing in search? Or is just a money-making scheme by MC Hammer? Contact us and let us know what you think!

Love the lyric insertion in the post Scott! Anyone have any idea if Vanilla Ice is going to do a Social Media platform anytime soon? (and no: I don't think his hair counts...)
